Sr. Software Engineer - C/C++, PL/SQL Developer
The individual who fills this position will participate as an integral component of a dynamic team in enhancing existing functionality and creating new components within the HSN Fulfillment Systems IT group, and within the larger HSN IT team. The successful candidate will combine both technical and communications skills to work with our business partners, IT partners, and vendors in gathering requirements and turning those requirements into quality software solutions. The group uses a variety of technologies to support warehouse and drop ship fulfillment, corporate quality assurance, inbound and outbound transportation and numerous cross-organizational systems.
The successful candidate plays an active role during all phases of the System Life Cycle. Adds technical input during the planning phase in the form of a project plan or a technical architectural design and often acts as the Go-To person. Coordinates and conducts sessions with business units and makes recommendations. Plays a very heavy role in the requirement gathering, analysis and design stages. Is responsible for the "how to" questions, data elements, calculations and creating models. Heavily involved at the development level in highly complex customizations and new application developments. Extremely active in the testing stage in the area of defect enhancement. Functions as the Go-To person during the development and implementation stages of the Life Cycle. Plays an integral role in system integration and the system interaction within the business. Plays a technical leadership role. Has intimate knowledge of system integration. Possesses skills that are cross-functional.
Responsibilities:
* Designs, develops and often lead projects with a high to critical complexity.
* Works with users to gather requirements, design specifications and often leads these efforts.
* Documents requirements, designs and develops.
* Writes detail QA test plans.
* Executes QA Test Plans.
* Performs as the Go-To person on projects of a High to Critical complexity.
* Provides input during design sessions.
* Provides business support as needed.
* Participates in production support.
* Performs code revisions with programmers.
* Often gives direction to others.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and applicable high level of technical experience.
* Commitment to producing high quality, well designed and flexible custom applications.
* Very strong programming ability, with attention to detail and design.
* Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills.
* Dedication to a collaborative working style and the ability to work well in small teams.
* Willingness to participate in after-hour and on-call support.
* A desire to learn and use new technologies.
* Candidate must have demonstrated excellent oral/written communication skills, and interpersonal skills to support interaction with internal customers, team members, and internal management.
* The candidate must have demonstrated an ability to work in a fast paced / dynamic team environment and possess time management skills to meet schedules.
* C/C++, PL/SQL, Pro-C, Unix, Oracle, SQL Knowledge
* Experience with Korn shell scripting
* 5-7 years development experience.
Preferred Requirements:
* Experience with (WMS) Warehouse Management Systems (i.e. knowledge of the MOVE application from Optum).
* Experience with Java, JSP/Servlets, JavaScript, MQ Series and/or Microsoft .Net development.
